Lana is an Architect, Artist and Designer based in Oxford, UK.
Lana qualified as an Architect in 2007 and graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a Master of Arts with distinction in International Studies in Vernacular Architecture (ISVA). She has a keen interest in sustainable development and conservation and has gained valuable experience by working for a variety of different practices. Project involvement has comprised a broad range of building types including commercial, residential and educational, many encompassing a high sustainability agenda.
Of Iraqi parentage, yet born and brought up in the UK, Lana has always felt connected to both the British and Arab culture. The notion of cultural identity is a an underlying theme in many of her works of art, expressing a sense of belonging in a disjointed society and inhabiting tensions of dual disjuncture linked to both Arab and Western cultural identities. She has since had the opportunity to exhibit her work at a number of exhibitions including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and the Istanbul Trienali in 2013.
